Experience
and ethnically diverse society
Being a healthcare professional
in America opens many challenges and opportunities.
You will experience the excitement of living
in an ethnically diverse society, meet new
people and gain new friends, and expand
your professional knowledge, skills and
competencies. More important, JUNO can bring
you to the destination that fits
your lifestyle.
New York
It's true what they say. If you can make
it in New York, you can make it anywhere.
And a lot of Filipinos have. New York is
one of the US states where the most successful
Filipino professionals work and reside,
especially in Queens. Anywhere you go around
the state, you can find a Filipino. So,
whether you are an outgoing city-dweller
or a quiet suburban settler, you have a
place here.
For
those who like the hustle and bustle of
city life, New York City offers an endless
array of attractions for the adventurous.
The financial (Wall Street) and cultural
(Broadway) capital of the US also boasts
a distinct skyline--the Chrysler
and Empire State Buildings. Well-known
attractions
span from the Statue of Liberty and
Ellis Island to the Radio City
Music Hall and the New
York Stock Exchange. Art galleries,
boutiques, and museums in the SoHo district
are other “must-sees” in the
city.
For shoppers, there is Fifth Avenue. And
world-class restaurants are available to
diners. For those who prefer relaxing, peaceful
and scenic environments, Upstate New
York is the way to go. It is where JUNO
treats its healthcare professionals on cherry-picking
and apple-picking soirees in the summertime.
The melting pot of personalities and culture,
New York is a unique place to get busy or
relax and have a great time.
New
Jersey
Also
known as “"The Garden State",”
New Jersey is known for its mountaintop
resorts, miles of Atlantic coastline,
theaters and concert halls, and professional
and minor league sporting events. It is
a favored destination for those who love
Victorian architecture, sugar-fine sand
beaches and outdoor activities such as
bird watching, eco-tours, rollerblading
and bicycling.
One
of the major places in New Jersey is Atlantic
City. It is home to the nation's first
Boardwalk and the newly re-built Garden
Pier, which features a Fine Arts
Center and a Historical Museum.
Filipinos can be found everywhere, but
through the years, Jersey City has become
their home base. Fil-Am businesses are
just as comfortable staying put to offer
them food (don't miss Philippine Bread
House on Newark Avenue for pastries),
shelter (for rent or for sale), curios
(across the bread house there's Tatak
Pilipino) and other basic necessities.
Jersey City's proximity to New York makes
it an attractive place to live in.
Connecticut
Do
you prefer a rural atmosphere? Then Connecticut
is the place for you. It is where you can
find colonial villages, elegant inns and
restaurants, maritime museums, and lobster
shacks. Its coastal location is likely for
maritime and marine life adventures.
The
Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration
and the Penguin Pavilion are two
of the most common attractions in Connecticut.
A day at the Mystic Seaport is an experience
of going back to 19th century. The Maritime
Aquarium at Norwalk in the south is
home to amazing underwater
creatures and touch tanks.
The world's first nuclear-powered submarine
is on display at Groton, where the Submarine
Force Museum is also located. This museum
traces submarine history from the Turtle
to today's Trident.
Filipinos
in Connecticut are closely-knit. The Filipino-American
community there is very active in organizing
events that promote friendship among Fil-Am
families, and encourage awareness and interest
in Philippine culture. Those charmed by
the countryside can settle in Connecticut,
without missing the rural hometown ambience.

California
(Los Angeles & San Diego)
If
the beaches, mountains, desert, woods, and
stars in Hollywood attract you, then you
belong to California. This state is home
to almost 1 million, or more than half of
the Filipino population in the US.
The sandy beaches of San Diego, the
Sunset Strip in LA, and the breezy
shores of Santa Barbara are considered
trademarks of southern California.
Its major city, Los Angeles, is where
music lovers can enjoy performances of great
musicians at the House of Blues or
at the Universal Amphitheater. It
is also where theater lovers can enjoy west
coast production of top Broadway shows.
It is the area of Hollywood’s rich
and famous.
Orange County, also in the southern
part, is the place to go for beautiful beach
towns. It is where Disneyland, a major attraction
for the family, is located.
Great outdoor activities like mountain biking,
golf and tennis can be enjoyed at Palm
Springs. For those who want to experience
a fabulous climate in a small beach town
with palm-shaded beaches, Santa Barbara
is the perfect place. It is also where you
can find a number of Mexican specialty restaurants
and seafood eateries.
On the northern part of California is another
major city, San Francisco. This city
also offers a lot of attractions to both
tourists and residents. Some of them are
the Golden Gate Bridge, the Fisherman's
Wharf, the prisons of Alcatraz,
and the cable car rides to Chinatown.
Anywhere
you are in California, it is where your
dreams can come true.
